Van Patten Media is exists thanks to a number of awesome open source technologies and great online services. In no particular order, here’s a (fairly) comprehensive list.

Hardware

This site–and many of our client sites–are served off a Linode 768 (referral link).

Software

The aforementioned Linode is powered by Ubuntu (10.04 LTS, if you’re particularly interested). We use Apache, suPHP, and MySQL for the full LAMP experience, although we are curious about other options.

We have a number of security measures in place, but perhaps chief among them is Tripwire.

VanPattenMedia.com is powered by WordPress (the latest stable release). We are proud WordPress users.

This theme is built on top of Rach5, the WordPress theme boilerplate we created to speed up development of client websites. CSS is generated by Compass and an assortment of handy mix-ins (rgbapng most notably). All markup is HTML5-compliant, based on current revisions of the in-development spec.

The “Signika Negative” font is served by Google Web Fonts. We also use the SIL-licensed icon font “IconicStroke,” available at Font Squirrel.

LABjs loads various JavaScript components, including the now-ubiquitous jQuery and several jQuery plugins including jQuery Waypoints and jQuery Cycle.
